This Privacy Policy describes how Beapnow (“we”, “us”) handles information in connection with the Mini Golf by Beapnow app for iOS and watchOS (the “App”). This is a practical summary of how the App works; it is not legal advice. If you need a formal legal review for your jurisdiction, please consult counsel.
1. Summary
- No account or sign-in is required to play.
- Courses, scores, and settings are stored on your devices.
- Community is optional. If you share a hole or post a score, that item, your nickname, and the country and region you picked are stored in Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) public database and other players can see them.
- Beapnow does not run its own server, does not see your Apple ID, name, or email, and does not sell or use your data for advertising.
- You can report or block any player, and delete everything you shared from Settings → Community safety.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple.
- Phone ↔ Watch course sync uses Apple’s WatchConnectivity between your devices only.
- If you email us, we receive what you choose to send.
2. Information the App stores on your device
Depending on how you use the App, it may store locally:
- Custom courses and holes you create (including terrain and features)
- Score history and round results
- Settings (for example sound, haptics, flyover, high-contrast, sync preferences, and your Community nickname, country and region)
- Your blocked players list and the Community items you reported, so they stay hidden on that device
- Purchase unlock flags for optional content (Creator, course packs) after Apple confirms a purchase or restore
This data remains on your iPhone and/or Apple Watch unless you delete the App, clear data via the OS, or share content yourself.
3. Information we do not collect
The App does not:
- Require registration or a Beapnow user profile
- Upload your courses or scores automatically. Community uploads happen only when you tap Share this hole or Post my score.
- Use GPS or your precise location
- Track you across other companies’ apps or websites, or show third-party ads
- Include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK
If that changes in a future version, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy answers before shipping.
4. Purchases
Optional in-app purchases (for example Creator or course packs) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to payment processing. You can restore purchases in the App’s Settings.
5. Sharing you start yourself
You may choose to export or share a course file (typically small JSON) or share a score card using system share sheets, email, or other apps you control. Recipients and services you pick have their own practices.
6. Community holes and scores (optional)
Browsing Community does not need sign-in. Sharing, posting, and reporting need you to be signed in to iCloud on your iPhone,
and you can turn sharing and posting off in Settings → Community.
Community data is stored in Apple’s CloudKit public database for the App (container iCloud.com.beapnow.minigolf).
Apple attaches an anonymous, app-specific iCloud user ID to each record. It is not your Apple ID and we cannot use it to find out who you are.
What is stored, and who can see it:
- Nickname: the name you type in Settings → Community. Shown publicly next to holes you share and scores you post. Please use a nickname, not your real name.
- Country and region: picked from a list in Settings (for example “QLD, AU”). Shown publicly. You can leave them blank.
- Shared holes: the hole layout, its name, par, size, the app build, and when you shared it. Public, and other players can download a copy.
- Posted scores: strokes, par, date, and which hole it was for. Shown on that hole’s leaderboard.
- Reports: which hole or score you reported and the reason you chose from a list. Only you and Beapnow can read your reports. Other players can’t see who reported or why.
- Report counts: a public number of reports for each hole or score, used for automatic hiding. It holds the count only, not who reported or why. As with download counts, iCloud notes the anonymous ID that last changed it; the App never shows it.
- Download counts: a running count of downloads for each shared hole. iCloud notes the anonymous ID that last updated the count; we do not use it.
We use this data only to run Community: showing holes and leaderboards, and keeping it safe. Names are checked against a word filter before they are shared and again when they are shown.
7. Reporting, blocking, and moderation
- Report: open a hole’s ••• menu, or long-press (or swipe) a hole or score, and tap Report. Pick a reason and send. The item is hidden for you straight away.
- Block: choose Block this player from the same menus, or tick “Also block” when you report. All of that player’s holes and scores are hidden for you straight away. The blocked list is kept on your device, and the other player is not told. Unblock any time in Settings → Community safety → Blocked players.
- Automatic hiding: anything reported by three or more different players is hidden for everyone until we review it.
- Our review: we review reports within 24 hours. We remove items that break the community rules and can turn off sharing and posting for the iCloud account that made them (we do this using the anonymous app-specific ID, not your identity).
8. Deleting your Community data
- Settings → Community safety → My shared holes: swipe to delete any hole you shared. It is removed from Community for everyone. Your own copy on your device stays.
- Settings → Community safety → My posted scores: swipe to delete any score you posted.
- Deleting the App or turning off sharing does not remove items you already shared, so delete them first, or email us and we will remove them.
- Reports you send are kept while we review them and are deleted once we no longer need them for moderation.
9. Apple Watch & iPhone communication
When both devices are available, the App may transfer course catalog data between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple WatchConnectivity so you can play on your wrist. That traffic stays between your devices via Apple’s frameworks. Community features are on iPhone only.
10. Communications with Beapnow
If you contact us at minigolf@beapnow.com, we process the content of your message (and your email address) to respond to support, feedback, moderation, or legal requests. We keep correspondence only as long as needed for support and normal business records.
11. Children
The App is a casual game for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Community shows only nicknames, regions, hole names, and scores, with a word filter, reporting, and blocking. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has shared personal information in Community or by email, contact us and we will remove it.
12. Data retention, security, and your choices
- On-device data is controlled by you. Uninstalling the App normally removes it (subject to Apple’s backup behavior).
- Community items stay until you delete them, we remove them, or Community is shut down.
- We rely on Apple platform security for on-device storage, iCloud, and purchases. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
- You can skip Community entirely, turn off sharing and posting, delete what you shared, or email us with any privacy question or request, including access or deletion requests under the laws that apply to you.
- The App is available in many regions. Apple may store iCloud data in other countries, and support email may be handled where we operate.
13. App Store “App Privacy” label
Version 1.1 adds optional Community features, so the App no longer qualifies as “Data Not Collected”. Our App Store privacy answers list the following as collected, linked to the player’s anonymous iCloud ID, used only for App Functionality, and not used for tracking:
- User ID: the anonymous, app-specific iCloud user ID on Community records
- Coarse Location: the country and region you pick (no GPS)
- Gameplay Content: holes you share and scores you post
- Other User Content: your nickname and the reports you send
- Product Interaction: hole download counts
Nothing is collected unless you use Community. Purchases are handled by Apple. Emails you send us are handled as described in section 10.
14. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or our practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
